Providing Communication Devices to those in need

What is an Alternative Augmentative Communication (AAC) Device?

An Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) device is a technological device or system that is used to supplement or replace an individual's ability to communicate. These devices can be used by individuals who have difficulty speaking or producing language due to conditions such as autism, cerebral palsy, or stroke.

AAC devices come in a variety of forms, including low-tech and high-tech options. Low-tech options include communication boards and books, while high-tech options include speech-generating devices, tablet-based communication apps, and software that allows individuals to type or select words or phrases to be spoken aloud. These devices can help individuals to express themselves, understand others, and participate more fully in their communities, as well as providing a way to access education, employment, and other opportunities.

We aim to assist families of children between the ages of 2 and 18 who have been denied support from other programs and cannot afford an AAC device on their own. If you have attempted other methods to obtain an AAC device for your non-speaking family member and are in need of assistance, please fill out a request form!
